Kneaver is manipulating a canvas small of pieces of text linked with plenty of others. At any time the system is aggregating them to produce a display adapted to the user. This is very different from a CMS/Document management system. Creating pieces of knowledge and linking is called Kneaving similar to weaving thread on a canvas.
Display is fully adapted to the user because Kneaver will take care of what is already know, it will put first what should be learned next, it will hide what is out of scope. Kneaver retain several appreciations from the user: exposure, agreement, conformance and assessments taken.
Kneaver relies heavily on a semantic engine. Items and Links are organized with types. Types carry a vector of semantic information (level of synthetic power, causality, specialization). This allows Kneaver to automatically detect key items, extract glossaries and suggest links and classifications. An initial type network is supplied with many types predefined for common Knowledge Management activity. It can be extended on the spot. Types are not a classification (taxonomy) of your knowledge but a level for understanding.
Kneaver includes on a methodology. You are free to use it entirely or pick your choice. It allows an iterative process to mature knowledge. Kneaver is much more powerful than a taxonomy and don't even oblige you to define one. Because collecting knowledge requires motivation and help we have our built-in inductor system. They take of prompting you or doing ancillary tasks like searching a home page for a person or a reference web page for a new concept. They can be ignored, skipped, restarted any time. Less typing, avoid information to be mixed with knowledge are achieved.
Kneaver includes an e-learning system. You define training plans, presentations; assign levels of detail and center of interest. You assign the training plans to new members. Presentation and assessments are produced automatically. Tracking and synthetic reports are built-in.
With Kneaver each of you manages his Knowledge Frontier. Learning push forward the frontier, accumulating and innovation increase the value of your territory. The center of it is the well-known part that will progressively be removed from your view of Kneaver. This allows expert users to maintain their speed of use while preserving an introductory level.

You can use Kneaver to annotate web pages from other sites and link it back to your own knowledge, keep links to favorites web sites and classify automatically, filter RSS feeds to highlight theses which are most valuable for you. If you are busy no need to read something you know already or weakly connected to your scope.
Kneaver is extensible. Our object model can be leverage server side as simply as adding small pieces of XHTML but also using high level language like c++, java or vb. So extensions can range from changing some display or layout to complete integration with enterprises packages. At every level as soon as data is concerned XML is the common language.
